October 14 & 15, 2009 Two Rivers Marina

October 14 & 15, 2009

Two Rivers Marina, Rockport, IL

Hmmmm… Did I mention that we did not have TV working?

One of the objectives for Mark as we waited in Rockport, IL, for Lock #24 repairs was to finally get our Direct TV to work. We went to town, bought a new satellite dish and a meter to monitor the signals. Well he was able to tell that he was getting a signal, but still no TV. So this morning he called for the installer, knowing that it was probably something simple to blame. After the installer left, we had the TV working, were back to the old satellite dish, and had brand new connectors. Yep, it was those connectors that were the problem – slight corrosion.

We have also been getting other things done around the boat. Mark has changed the fuel filters, re-arranged the kitchen, put all sorts of things away, and then has re-arranged again. He also has a project on the main console that he is trying to fix as well as put together a cart for hauling loads on the dock. I have been updating the blog, emailing, doing six loads of laundry, and playing with Port. (I think he really enjoyed fetching and catching the Frisbee).

Summer Song was also laid over here with us. They left this morning as they found out the Clarksville Lock was working. Summer Song is 68 ft long and her draft is deeper than ours. We found out that the marina used one of their smaller boats and pulled them through the shallow part of the channel. This morning we watched the process. Mark has arranged for the same service tomorrow morning for Grateful.

We will head for Alton Marina, IL, tomorrow and on Saturday we hope to stay at Hoppie’s Marina. I have called ahead and they have the depth as well as the fuel we need.

  1. 1) you're not missing anything by not having a t.v., that's for sure. :) You two may have to use that time for chit chat or at least playing cribbage and drinking margaritas.

    2) Are you referring to the cart to haul your stuff up/down from dock? Did you get it to work?

Miss & love you! Enjoying the blog, pictures, and your stories... good stuff.

P.S. Nice job with the slide show.

  2. We did give some thought to scrabble. Mark was working on the cart from you all. It took a long time to figure out how to go through Picasa in order to do the slideshow, but I got there. Good to read you comments.
    Love you two,Carol
