Well, we are finally starting our Great Loop Adventure. Mark declared Sunday as Unpacking Holiday and we spent the day trying to organize the clutter. We got the dinghy up on the boat after rebuilding one of the supports. Friends stopped in to wish us on our way. A day well spent.
Today we started at 1:00. Mark had a few more items to organize in the morning. The day was so calm that the river was like glass for much of the way. The Prescott RR Bridge rose right away for us so we motored through without waiting. Lock and Dam #3 also opened and locked us through in 15 minutes. Everything went well until we got to Lake Pepin and the rain started. It didn’t slow us up much but makes docking a little miserable. We made it to Lake City at 6:30.
The most important thing we needed to do tonight was get the satellite working so we could watch the Vikings/Packer game. Go Vikings! Wouldn’t you know it, we couldn’t get a signal. FRUSTRATION! We solved our dilemma by walking to a little sports bar and having dinner while we watched the first half of the game.
