Fish Tale Marina, Ft. Myers Beach, FL

This was the day that Tom & Lyn were going to go back to Venice to begin their winter in the Florida sun. We started in the usual way with coffee and toast with peanut butter. As we were sitting there one of the marina guys (don’t know their names yet) came over to tell us that manatee had come into the harbor. I quickly got out of my PJs and ran over with camera in hand. The pictures aren’t much, but it was exciting to see several of these gentle creatures “wrestling”. At one time there were at least 6 snouts out of the water – probably there were more and at least one was a youngster.

Well, what a perfect way to start our stay!!

We went to breakfast at the same little restaurant where we found ice cream last night. Tom & Lyn bought our last meal together – Thanks, you guys!!! It was a fabulous week with Tom & Lyn as crew and I’m sure we will be able to get together a few more times as we both spend time in Florida.

Now we are anxiously preparing for our kids and Mark’s sister, Judy. We will all celebrate Christmas together.

  1. Mark & Carol,
We are so "Grateful", pun definately intended, for the unique opportunity to cruise the ICW with you guys and Port. We laughed, enjoyed good food and beverages, observed your excellent seamanship and saw first hand the ICW from the sea side. The dolphins were exciting to watch and captured so well in Carol's photography. We look forward to your continued blogspot for the remainder of you trip. Thank you very much and good sailing.

  2. The Manatee's are wonderful and you are so lucky to see them.
It sounds like you guys are really having a wonderful time.
It's very cold back home in MN. We don't have a lot of snow yet, but it's made up for it in cold. brrrrr.
